Allows you to connect to an electrical cord with a grounding prong to an outlet without a grounding prong receptacle.
These converters have a small tab on the bottom. This tab is attached to the screw in the center of the electrical outlet. The screw would be removed and then reinserted with the tab. The tab would then ground the current instead of the missing third prong.
